At MEIST, teachers with a mentor begin to find out how to improve their teaching in regards to content and pedagogy.
MEIST offers many opportunities for teachers to improve on their skills in delivering lessons to their student cohort.
These opportunities may be in the form of:
- One on one mentoring with a personal mentor in any area of teaching that the mentee requires
- Attending workshops designed to improve the delivery of Science teaching
- Professional Learning workshops for a small group or entire Science faculty
- Assistance in preparation of materials for use in the classroom
- Assistance in course writing
- Guidance in writing job applications and assistance in preparing for job interviews
Physics teachers, new to teaching the subject are assigned Physics or Science classes with little or no Physics experience. MEIST can help novice teachers develop effective teaching pedagogy by connecting them to Physics expertise.
MEIST offers many opportunities for schools to provide Professional learning opportunities for their teachers to improve their pedagogy.
These opportunities may be in the form of:
- One on one mentoring with a personal mentor for staff who require guidance in any area that the teacher may consider has weaknesses.
- Provide workshops designed to improve the delivery of Science and Mathematics teaching
- Professional Development workshops for a small group or entire Science or Mathematics faculty
- Assistance in preparation of materials for use in the classroom
- Assistance in course writing
- Visiting schools and spending time working with staff during non-preparation time or in time slots allocated by the school.
